Lemoore Police arrest masseuse for prostitution, landlord denies allegations

50-year-old Mariam Side is accused of offering sexual acts for money

LEMOORE, Calif. -  A Lemoore masseuse is facing prostitution charges. Police arrested 50-year-old Maria Side on Tuesday. They say she offered sex in exchange for money.

After multiple complaints about local massage parlors, Lemoore Police took action leading to a crackdown on alleged prostitution.

On Tuesday, Lemoore Police conducted compliance checks on a handful of massage parlors. They say an undercover detective walked into this spa on the 200 block of Heinlen Street where Mariam Side allegedly offered sexual acts for money.

"The Problem Oriented Policing Team prepared a search warrant. After that we served the search warrant in the business and located additional evidence inside that supported the investigation," said Sergeant Alvaro Santos.

Santos won't release details of the evidence. The owner of the building where the spa is located says Lemoore Police also searched her home.

"One of the cops told me after a while, he said well they're investigating for prostitution. I said for what?," said Techie James.

James says the tenants have done business here for more than a decade and there's no chance prostitution is going on.

"I go there. I check the building. Everything is always good. I never heard any complaint from anybody," said James.

James says she's more disappointed at how detectives handled the investigation. She claims police asked if she was connected to the alleged crime.

"Are you apart of it? I said no. I own the building. I am apart of Lemoore Cinema. I'm telling you who I am," said James.

James says after decades of being prominent business woman in Lemoore, she feels ashamed to be here.

"I thought this is my town. But after this happened to me, I'm thinking twice," said James.

Lemoore Police say the owner of the business will have to pay a citation and be in compliance.
