Lemoore Councilmember Holly Blair’s latest incident just one in long line of conflicts

News

Lemoore City Councilmember Holly Blair was out on bail Thursday after spending a night behind bars.

She’s accused of speeding through a police parking lot and then leading police on a wild goose chase — all with her child in the back seat.

Even before this latest incident she’s had a checkered past

In April 2018 Blair tweeted out vulgar lyrics from rapper Kendrick Lamar, angering residents and the city.

At that time mayor Ray Madrigal said it wasn’t about the rap music, it was about holding our elected officials to higher standard.

“We wanted to be out on the record that we don’t agree with it,” Mayor of Lemoore Ray Madrigal said.

A recall effort was launched in July 2018, citing Blair’s conduct in council meetings, on social media, and with other residents. The effort failed.

On one occasion, as Blair continued to face backlash from the community. Cell phone video caught her eating and looking disinterested as people spoke out against her in a council meeting.

In August 2018 she was censured for reasons including discussing private matters publicly and making allegations of dishonesty against city employees. Fellow council members voted in favor of the censure. The only no vote was from Blair herself.

“So next to come I’ve asked the city attorney to look into possible restraining orders to keep miss Blair out of city buildings,” he said.

The Kings County Assistant District Attorney, as well as Blair’s attorneys are set to talk about the case Friday.
