The Kings River opened up for recreational use in both Fresno and Tulare counties Saturday.
The river was closed for a month, over concern of dangerous water from rapid snowmelt in the mountains. Law enforcement was out patrolling the waterways Saturday to make sure people were safe and reminding folks to wear life jackets, follow boating rules, and play it safe on the water.
“Just knowing your own limitations, your physical fitness, to where if you can’t swim out into this river, don’t take a chance,” said Fresno County Deputy Sheriff Alex Nikolich.
