‘I want him to get the chair’ says mother of man with dead body in trunk

A man is behind bars after Dinuba Police made a gruesome discovery in his car. They said they found a woman’s body inside a cardboard box wrapped in tape, in the alleged suspects trunk.

Dinuba Police made the discovery on East Olive Way, Sunday, just a few blocks from Dinuba High School.
Investigators said the car belongs to Jose Anthony Rodriguez, 37, of Reno, Nevada.

They said he’s from Dinuba and was visiting family. The family said that the woman found is Rodriguez’ girlfriend and the mother to two of his children.

The family believes that Rodriguez drove with his four kids from Reno to Dinuba with their mother’s body in the trunk.

The family said the only reason they’re talking is to let the victims family know how sorry they are.

“She didn’t deserve this,” Nellie Gutierrez, suspects mother, said.

Somber words of a heartbroken mother who’s son allegedly killed his girlfriend.

“She was a very loving person and I’m sorry to all of her family and friends that this happened,” Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said her son, alleged suspect Jose Rodriguez, has been living in Reno, Nevada with the 29-year-old victim for nearly 10 years.

She said the couple had four children, two together and two from his previous relationship.

Gutierrez said her son had a violent personality. This weekend she says her worst fear came true.

“He’s just stupid, dumb, he just did it, he just likes having control over people,” Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said Rodriguez told her the victim had left him. She said he told them the victim was in Dinuba and he drove with his kids to find her. However, the alleged suspects mother said the victim’s body was in the car the whole time and no one ever knew.

“We believe that the homicide occurred in Reno,” Lt. Abel Iriarte, Dinuba Police Department, said. “She had blunt trauma to the head and she was decomposing.”

The discovery came after police said Rodriguez made several disturbances starting Saturday from shooting a gun, to stabbing his own brother Sunday. The suspects mom said he even punched her in the face.

“Our detectives were able to contact the judge and up his bail to a million dollars to secure his stay in our custody until Reno police get here,”  Iriarte said.

Police said it appears Rodriguez was planning to bury the victim’s body. They discovered a hole he had dug. Rodriguez’ mother said it was in his grandmother’s backyard.

“I want them to give him the chair, I don’t give a damn anymore,” Gutierrez said.

Dinuba Police said they are working with Reno Police Department. If you have any information, you are urged to call Dinuba Police Department at (559) 591-5911 or (559) 591- TIP1 to remain anonymous.
