Hundreds of cyclists competed in California Classic despite rain

Hundreds of cyclists still competed in the California Classic despite the rain.

Officials with the race said this is the first time it’s rained in eight years. 

There were 1500 people who registered, but just under a thousand actually showed up. 

The 100 mile bike ride was canceled because of the rain and road conditions. 

“It was a little spooky at first because you don’t know what to expect as far as the roads. But, everyone was great. Everyone supported each other out there,” said Robert Clegg.

Sunday is the half marathon and 5K. There may be some road closures. For a map of the route, click here.
