Police are investigating a homicide in Chowchilla after a man was found severely injured in a car–and later died.

On December 2, around 1:30 AM, officers from the Chowchilla Police Department were called to a residence in the gated community of Greenhills estates for a medical aid.

When officers arrived on scene they found the victim inside of a vehicle; when they removed him they discovered he had severe injuries to his head and facial area.

The man was transported to Fresno Regional Medical Center where he later passed away.

During the investigation officers discovered that the victim, John Davidson and his wife Amber Davidson, were involved in a verbal argument outside of a home in Greenhills.

Police say during the argument Amber was sitting inside her pickup truck on the front driver seat, while John, was standing outside of the vehicle. During the argument Amber told police John was banging on the outside of the door asking to be let in.

Police tell us at some point Amber began to drive away and John was dragged a short distance before falling off the side of the vehicle. He sustained major injuries from that fall.

Police then say Amber turned around and came back to John who was now “hunched” over in the roadway. Following the incident she called a male friend, who police say assisted her in placing the severely injured victim into the rear seat of her pickup truck.

Police say the two then drove her injured husband to another residence in Greenhills. At that point law enforcement was called and the investigation began. Police say this is case is being treated as a homicide and the investigation is ongoing.
