A Porterville man was arrested Wednesday after a gun was fired at a car with an adult and a 5-year-old inside, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Deputies were dispatched around 7:20 a.m. to a reported shooting near the area of Randy Street and Cleo Avenue in Porterville.
The victim said an unknown subject was showing gang signs and fired a handgun at him, striking his vehicle several times, the Sheriff’s Office said. The victim’s 5-year-old child was in the car at the time.
Neither were injured during the shooting.
Deputies later located a subject in the area who matched the description of the suspect from the shooting. The subject fled, and deputies pursued him on foot, the Sheriff’s Office said.
He was subsequently located and taken into custody without incident.
He was Noel Ned, 19. The victim in the shooting positively identified Ned as the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives learned Ned also matched the description of a suspect involved in the brandishing of a firearm and making criminal threats on the night before.
He was transported and booked at the Porterville Substation on charges of attempted murder, making criminal threats, brandishing a firearm, and gang crime.
