Fresno police searching for two suspects they say robbed and then pistol-whipped a man, then robbed another man outside a 99 Cents Only Store, less than 30 minutes later.
Police say the first attack happened around 6 Tuesday night, behind a business in the area of Bullard and Thesta, as the victim was helping take out the trash.
The second attack, near First and McKinley.
Police say the suspect descriptions in both incidents match: two Hispanic men, with something covering their faces, in a dark-colored vehicle, possibly in their early twenties and armed with guns.
At Bullard and Thesta, police say the victim was eating at a restaurant, finished his dinner, and because he knows the owner, helped take out some trash.
That’s when police say, two suspects came up to him, robbing him at gunpoint and assaulting him.
Police say the dazed victim wandered, eventually collapsing, leaving a blood trail almost to the freeway.
His head injury was so bad, arriving EMS personnel believed he had possibly been shot.
Doctors at the hospital, determining otherwise.
“He wasn’t shot, it looked like he had been hit with the gun several times, and was knocked unconscious behind the businesses here,” Fresno Police Lt. Charlie Chamalbide said. “He is in stable condition, and he’s going to be fine, and what they did is, they just took his wallet.”
That second robbery happening outside the 99 Cents Only Store near First and McKinely.
This time police say, the suspects pulled up in their dark colored vehicle, robbing a shopper exiting the store here. That victim also robbed at gunpoint, but not injured.
Officials are downloading surveillance video from both locations, but say, they couldn’t get a full description, because the suspects had their faces covered.
If you saw anything in either of these robberies, contact the Fresno Police Department.
