Fresno Police expand gang operation

News

The Fresno Police Department is expanding its gang operation, following a gang-related shooting that left a 5-year-old boy fighting for his life.

The 5-year-old was shot in the backseat of a car Monday night at an apartment complex on Winery Avenue.

Tuesday night, more officers are patrolling the streets, looking for gang members.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer said the department will dedicate its entire daytime and nighttime traffic unit to the operation as well as MAGEC and other special response teams.

Police are still searching for the car the 5-year-old boy was shot in. It’s a blue 2004 Honda Accord, license plate 5UXV605. If you have any information, call police or Crimestoppers 498-STOP.
