Fresno Man Stabbed In the Eye By His Childhood Friend, Family Says

News

FRESNO, Calif. — A mother is speaking out after she watched her son get stabbed in the eye in their own home.

“He bleeds and bleeds and bleeds,” said Rosa Hernandez, Mother of Victim.

Police arrived on the 4700 block of Garrett after getting a disturbance call. When they got there, the victim was lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

“My mom called me crying a lot, my mom said come right now because your brother is on the floor crying,” said Aurelia Ayala, Victims sister.

The family said the victim is 54 year old Reynaldo Hernandez, a father of 5. They said he was in his home, when this man, a neighbor and a childhood friend, came into the house and stabbed Hernandez in the eye. They claim suspect has been battling mental illness.

“This guy is crazy, he comes in with my brother and walking in the street and goes inside the living room with my brother,” said Hernandez.

The family says Hernandez’s son tried to stop it but the suspect tried to attack him too.

“The guy hit my brothers son,” said Aurelia.

The suspect ran away after the incident but police caught up to him and arrested him.

Now Hernandez’s mother is just heartbroken because she doesn’t know what she will do without her son.

Police are still working to determine the motive. They have also yet to release the suspects name.
