Fresno girl awarded for community work

A young Fresno girl received an award Saturday for her extraordinary work in the community.
9-year-old Danay Ferguson was honored by the Center for Non-Violence in Fresno for her organization, Reading Heart. Ferguson began the program to give all kids access to a book and set a world record.
Ferguson is the first child in the organization’s 24 years to be an award recipient.
“You are never too young to start your own dream,” Ferguson said.
Four other outstanding organizations were also honored Saturday.
