Two men are in critical condition after colliding into a fire hydrant, and rolling over several times Friday night.
It happened near Ashlan Avenue and Bond Street around 8 p.m., when witnesses say the vehicle started traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided into the hydrant, flooding the road, according to Lt. Bill Dooley with the Fresno Police Department.
The car came to rest next to a nearby church, where witnesses spoke to officers recalling what led up to the crash.
The jaws of life were used to extract two men in their 20s from the car, cutting the top of the car completely off.
They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center and are listed in critical condition, Dooley says.
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the collision.
