The Fresno County Elections Office are preparing for Tuesday’s special election.
People will be deciding on a new board of supervisors for district two and people in Clovis will be deciding on who will represent them on the Clovis City Council, three seats are up for grabs.
On Tuesday, 176,000 Fresno County registered voters will be deciding on some local races.
“So far we’re sitting at 15 percent turn out. There’s about 26 thousands ballots that have came back through the mail already,” Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters Brandi Orth said.
Three candidates are running for county supervisor for district 2.
Nasreen Johnson, a marketing director for a non-profit organization, Steve Brandau, a small business owner and Fresno City Council member, and Steve Hosey, a former baseball player turned developer all want to fill the vacant seat that was once held by State Senator Andreas Borgeas.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims and Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer are supporting Brandau.
The Fresno County Democratic Party supporting Nasreen Johnson in this special election.
“Branday already has track record. It’s a very right wing track record. He’s an admitted tea party advocate so he has a lot of negatives and I think the community is much more moderate than he is and I think they’re looking for a vision for their community that is quite different from his,” Democratic Chair Michael Evans said.
On Tuesday, people living in Clovis will be voting on four candidates who are vying to be apart of the Clovis City Council, there are only three seats up for grabs.
