Freezing temperatures affecting Valley

News

Freeze watches and warnings are issued when temperatures are expected to be low enough long enough to potentially cause harm.

Vulnerable to the cold are people, pets, pipes and plants — easily remembered as “The 4 P’s.”

Warming centers open in Fresno when temperatures drop below 35 degrees.

Exposed pipes including outdoor faucets can be covered to prevent freezing.

Sensitive plants may need to be covered or moved.

Beth Caffrey at Cat House on the Kings says, “If you have an animal that’s typically indoors, you can’t expect them to handle the cold outdoors because they haven’t built that winter coat.”
