Fireworks stands popping up across the Central Valley

You may have noticed fireworks stands popping up across the Central Valley.

Now through the 4th of July holiday, you will be able to buy safe and sane fireworks.

There are nearly 30 stands in Clovis and more than 60 in the City of Fresno run by local non-profits.

“It’s a good turn out,” said Gerald Hayden of Clovis VFW Post 3225. “We have our local customers are the same people that come every year.”

Clovis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3225 has set up shop for decades.

“This is our display cases,” Hayden explained. “All these things are full from the time we come in until the time we leave.”

They have thousands of fireworks to sell.

“We have it as low as $2 for some stuff and it goes up to $100 and we have our mega box which is $600,” Hayden said.

All the money from this stand helps veterans in our community.

“It’s been a major fundraiser for us,” said August Flach of Clovis VFW Post 3225.

Most of it goes to the VA in Fresno.

“On the average we make about $20,000,” Hayden said.

And when you go to buy fireworks this year, no matter what stand you visit, you’re helping local non-profits and their particular cause.

“It’s all about our veterans,” Hayden said.

“We hope to see you here,” Flach concluded.

Their fireworks stand is set up on 5th Street and Veterans Parkway in Clovis.
