Fire at Target Store in Atwater

Investigators Identify a Suspect

ATWATER - Police in Atwater are investigating a fire at a Target store.

The fire happened around 9 o'clock last night. Customers and workers were evacuated when emergency crews arrived. The store was filled with smoke. Cal Fire crews put out the fire. No one was hurt.

Target Loss Prevention Surveillance observed a man in his late 30's to mid 40s wearing a grey striped tank top,and blue pants. The suspect has a shaved head and a large mustache. The man was seen pushing a shopping cart throughout the grocery area and filing it with merchandise. At one point he goes out of view into the toilet paper aisle. A short time later he is seen leaving that aisle without the cart and leaving the store. Police say the fire is discovered shortly after.
