“This has been our logo, ever since the day we opened.”
Almost three decades back, John Shamshoian never imagined his company of less than 50 would one day have a three-story building of its own, with windows matching the Realty Concepts company logo.
“Seems just like yesterday, but that was 26 years ago,” Shamshoian said.
Today, the company behind that logo’s quadrupled in size.
Now son J.P. is president and bringing some big-city flair back to the valley, with a building project in the heart of Old Town Clovis.
“When it came available, we knew that we had to have it,” Shamshoian said.
The project’s been in the works for months, seen here in this time-lapse video.
Besides the trademark windows, the Shamshoians brought in other touches: shelving inspired by a Brooklyn coffee shop, a retro sign and industrial touches, like exposed pipe and brick.
The two wanted to stay true to the “Old Town” feel, but Shamshoian says, the location was key for a different type of work experience, not as common in Fresno and Clovis.
Something he calls, “a degree of walk-ability.”
“I love the idea of getting to work in a space, where you can go get a cup of coffee, you can go shopping, you can take a client out to lunch, you can do all sorts of different things within your work day, and within an easy walk,” Shamshoian said. “All the cool stuff that’s going on down here, it became a no-brainer.”
The building’s first floor will house an expanded “House Of JuJu,” a popular Old Town restaurant.
Plus, more jobs.
To the Shamshoians, you could say, it all came down to the foundation.
“It was my hope to design a building that my grandchildren’s grandchildren would drive by a hundred years from now, and think, I love that building,” Shamshoian said. “And I think we accomplished that.”
