It’s been a painful journey for Isabel Riley as her family continues to mourn the loss of her brother who was severely beaten and left for dead in an alley in East Fresno.

“If you can put yourself in my shoes, you’d be. I know you’d be raging mad to find that somebody beat your brother to death, that he’s no longer around, that you can no longer visit him,” Riley said.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on February 24, someone passing by the alley located off Mayfair Blvd, noticed a man, who was identified as Ernesto Hernandez, 53,  who was on the ground appeared to be injured.

Hernandez was bleeding from his head, severely beaten, he was rushed to a local hospital, where he died six days later.

“Ever since we gotten this out to the public. We have generated some tips unfortunately they haven’t amounted to much not enough to make an arrest anyway,” Public Information Officer Tony Botti said.

Riley is now on a mission to help solve this case.

She and her family have gathered $500 of their own money, an addition to the $2000 from Crime Stoppers.

“We don’t want him to be forgotten. We don’t want this crime to go unsolved and we’re just keeping a promise that we made to him that we’ll never stop looking for who did this to him,” Riley said.

Riley has a message to the person or persons responsible for her brothers death.

“What you did is nearly unforgivable and all things done in darkness eventually come to light,” she said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
