Family and friends of Dynasty Alexander gathered to celebrate and remember the young woman at Elk Bayou park on Saturday.
Today would have marked her 19th birthday and her family wanted to make sure she was celebrated on her special day.
The family brought a handful of balloons for people to write a special message for Alexander.
” Happy Birthday Princess. I’ll never forget you,” Mandy Lodessen wrote on a pink balloon.
According to Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, Dale Watson, 52, Porterville was taken into custody for the killing Alexander which took place earlier this month.
Lodeesen came out with her mother to celebrate the life of Alexander.
” It’s just very sad,” she said.
Lodeesen with Alexander’s family forming a circle as they prayed for Alexander and one another.
“Not only was her life taken away but the vision for her future for all of her friends, her family, her teachers who saw that brighter side of her that was taken from them also,” Carlton Jones, family member said.
Jones said Alexander was a free spirit, who helped her friends even as she was dealing with her own struggles.
“What breaks my heart about this entire issue is the fact that an adult had an opportunity to cross paths with a child and rather encourage them and guide them they took advantage and hurt them,” Jones said.
