Families pack Woodward Park for Easter

Families crowded Woodward Park in Fresno Sunday for Easter celebrations. They barbecued, played volleyball and the little ones hunted Easter eggs.

“Some of us aren’t even family, but we consider each other family. We’re just like friends and we get close every year,” said one woman.

It’s an annual tradition for many families. Some come back to the same spot every year. But, this year, they had to come early.

“Gotta come early to get a good spot,” said Pete Leal. “It’s beautiful weather out here right now, what more can you ask for.”

Rochelle Gonzales and Pete Leal said Easter is more than just the great food and games. It’s about bonding with family.

“Family, family, you know. Unite with love. Just have a good time with our loved ones,” said Rochelle Gonzales.

“We won’t see each other until Christmas… or Thanksgiving. It’s just one of those holidays where families come together,” said Leal.
