Families Mourn Loved Ones After Visalia Murder Suicide

VISALIA, Calif. — Family and friends of a Visalia couple found dead in their home held a vigil on Friday to honor their lives.

Visalia Police ruled the crime as a murder suicide. They said 27 year old Jonathan Pena shot and killed 24 year old Adriana Diaz at their home on the 4200 block of West Cambrige last Saturday.

Both of the victims’ families said they are not convinced it is a murder suicide. They said they don’t believe Jonathan was capable of such an act.

“He loved life. He was happy. He had found her and they were happy,” said Cesar Pena, Jonathan’s brother.

“The anger keeps me going. I feel I’m not going to be happy until I know until something is done,” said Angelina Gomez, Adriana’s mother.

They said they are hoping for justice.

“I hope this will push the Visalia Police Department to keep investigating,” said Angelina Gomez.

Gomez and Pena believe that an intruder came inside the home and killed the couple. Visalia Police said they are still investigating the incident.
