Authorities captured a prisoner who walked away from the minimum-support facility at Pleasant Valley State Prison on Monday.

Around 7:30 p.m., someone meeting the description of Brian Dill, 33, was reported near the town of Avenal which is 20 miles from the prison. The Avenal Police Department responded to the location where they located and detained the man until the crisis response team arrived and verified his identity.

Brian Dill, 33, was reported missing during an institutional count at noon, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said.

Within minutes, agents from CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety were dispatched to locate and apprehend Dill.

He was admitted to CDCR on June 29, 2012, from San Luis Obispo County to serve a two-year, eight-month sentence for vandalism, possession of a firearm by a felon or addict, DUI, possession of a controlled substance while armed and criminal threats.
