Emergency crews respond to drowning at Bass Lake


Madera County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call in the Bass Lake area for a drowning victim.

Sheriff’s say the victim is a 42-year-old man from Texas, who was underwater approximately 50 to 100 feet offshore.

The victim was located shortly after ‪6:00 PM‬. Life-saving measures were performed by EMS and deputies at the scene but were not successful.

The identity of the decedent is pending notification of next of kin.

Sheriff’s said the circumstances of the drowning remain under investigation. At this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.
