Central High School Wind Ensemble was selected by audition as one of 6 high schools and 2 universities in the nation to attend the New York International Wind Festival in March 2018 and be part of the World Projects Music Performance Tour.
The students will have the unique opportunity for musical growth that is second to none, where they will attend rehearsals, workshops and perform at Carnegie Hall. An educational element and guided tours while in New York include: The 9/11 Memorial & Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island, a Hudson River Dinner Cruise, Top of the Rock, tours of key points of interest in the city and the relationship to history & music, and a Broadway show. Round trip airfare and transportation is included as well as most of the student’s meals.
The estimated total cost for our students to attend this prestigious event is $114,688 (staff & parents are not included in this cost). The combined fundraising efforts of parents and students so far have only trimmed a fraction of the cost.
