Paramedics rushed a man and woman to the hospital after a driver jumped a guardrail, rolled down a hill and landed in a canal, according to California Highway Patrol Sergeant Mike Trenholm.
The crash happened just after 3 p.m. Sunday near Nielsen and Teilman in Fresno.
CHP officers said three cars were heading southbound Highway 99. One of those drivers merged onto Highway 180 at the last moment which caused the other two cars to maneuver their vehicles, said Trenholm.
The CHP said both vehicles hit the guardrail and one rolled down a hill and into a canal.
The Fresno Fire Department helped a man and woman out, Trenholm said. The couple had a broken arm and scratches, according to CHP. The man and women were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.
The CHP is still searching for the driver who caused the crash.
