Over the weekend, a violent fight at Lost Lake left a dog dead and two men stabbed.
The stabbings happened on Saturday night around 9:30pm at the campground area of Lost Lake. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said 44-year old Kelly Cox has been arrested for stabbing a dog to death and stabbing two men.
Tony Botti, the public information officer with the FCSO said Cox’s pitbull ran to where the victims were setting up camp. The victims’ Dobermann and the pitbull started fighting, and that’s when Cox allegedly stabbed the Dobermann.
“He’s just absolutely cold blooded. This guy was like barbaric, to pick up a dog in one hand, and use a knife in the other and basically filet it and throw it to the ground. It’s just terrible, and no animal should ever have to go through something like that,” stated Botti.
Bottii said the father of the Dobermanns’ owner confronted Cox, and Cox attacked that man with a knife.
“Gets him onto the ground and starts stabbing him in the back, and then we had the nephew of that man try to jump in and then Cox ends up stabbing him as well,” said Botti.
Botti said Cox has a lengthy criminal record dating back 30 years. It’s believed that Cox was under the influence at the time of the fight.
“A problem is, is that you get out to an atmosphere like that, people are drinking, they’re not in their right state of mind, tempers flare that much more quickly, and then you get ugly situations like this to unfold,” ended Botti.
The two men stabbed were ages 42 and 35, and both are expected to survive from their injuries.
