Dive team searching for missing 16-year-old who fell into the Tule River

Tulare Sheriff’s said they are searching a very dangerous four-mile stretch of the Tule River near what they call the “The Stairs” Day Use area, about six miles north of Springville.

They are searching for a 16-year-old who went under the water on Sunday evening.

The Swiftwater Dive Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Team, TCSO Drone, with help from Tulare County Fire and CHP Helicopter are helping with the search.

The search will continue in the morning.

Sheriff Boudreaux said he wants to remind everyone that the local waterways are very dangerous right now. The water is extremely cold and moving incredibly fast. It might look safe, but it is not. Please be careful when visiting our lakes and rivers.
