District Attorney: No criminal charges filed against passenger involved in fatal Tulare shooting

The investigation into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Tulare continues. We now know the name of the suspect killed in the shootout; he has been identified as 35-year-old Quinntin Andrew Castro, the woman who was also in the car has been identified as 28-year-old  Rosa Cuevas, she is currently ​​listed in critical condition.

Tuesday, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office says at this time no criminal charges have been filed against 28-year-old Cameron Ware, the third person who was in the car with Castro and Cuevas at the time of the shooting.

Investigators have determined that Ware was not driving the car and that he did not fire any shots at officers. 

The incident happened Sunday night around 7 p.m. after police say a routine traffic stop led to pursuit and ended in a shootout.

Police say during the gunfire battle between an alleged suspect and police Tulare police K9 Bane was shot and killed. 

Police say there were three people inside the car, a 35-year-old man who died at the hospital, a 28-year-old woman who’s in critical condition and 25-year-old Cameron Ware. 

“It is of paramount importance that a thorough, exhaustive investigation be completed for a full understanding of the events of that fateful evening. We have full confidence in the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office to investigate this incident. At this time, preliminary information provided to us indicates that Mr. Ware was not driving the vehicle, nor did he fire any shots. However, this is a complex and continuing investigation and we ask for patience as the Sheriff’s Department conducts its investigation,” said District Attorney Tim Ward.

The investigation is ongoing.
