One lucky man got a new smile.

You may remember teppanyaki chef Eddie Sixay, we told you his story last week when he was surprised with the tip of a lifetime- over $5,000 for free braces. It’s something he’s been wanting for years but couldn’t afford. We were there for the surprise and when he smiled for the first time with his new grill.

A smile so big it deserves a celebration, that’s exactly why Eddie Sixay pounds the “Good News Gong.” He’s celebrating thousands of dollars of dental work and his first set of braces — a gift from Thurman Orthodontics

“I feel blessed to have this opportunity for them to pay for this,” he said.

The 23-year-old teppanyaki chef at KuniSama restaurant on Willow and Herndon ave., was surprised last week with a tip from the orthodontic team. The receipt read “55-hundred dollars. Free braces.”

“Honestly I never thought I would be able to get to this point because I probably would still be working until I get my fund and be able to afford braces on my own.” said Sixay.

His teeth were always something he felt insecure about. Now he’s sporting a new grill along with his colorful style.

“It means everything to give that to somebody who is so deserving with a great personality who works so hard it makes you really proud,” said Thurman Orthodontics Office Manager Alexis Rangel.

The chef is now a proud metal mouth with a bright future.
