Detectives searching for armed suspect responsible for a string of robberies in Caruthers


The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is working to identify and arrest the suspect(s) responsible for a  string of armed robberies in the Caruthers and Laton area. 

They say three robberies occurred at different businesses during a five day span.

On November 14th, shortly after 11 p.m. a masked man walked inside a Valero gas station on W. Tahoe ave in Caruthers and pointed a black handgun at the clerks behind the counter. The suspect demanded money from the employees; after getting the cash he fled out the door. 

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says the entire robbery took 45 seconds. 

On November 16th around 6 a.m. a masked man entered the Caruthers Market on W. Tahoe ave. in Caruthers, deputies say he waived a black handgun and demanded the clerk for money. Once the clerk opened the register, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed the cash. Officials say he then walked down an aisle and took two bottles of alcohol before leaving the store.

On November 18th around shortly after 10 a.m. a masked man walked inside the Cargo Market on S. Elm Ave. in Laton and pointed a black handgun at a customer and the store employee. The suspect then demanded money from the clerk, he then walked behind the counter to take cash from the register, then fled out of the store. 

Officials say the entire robbery took 60 seconds. 

The suspect is described as being 5’8″ to 6’0″ with an average build. He was wearing a black
sweatshirt with a zebra print on the hood, white gloves, a white mask and black sneakers; he appears to be left-handed.

Officials were able to get a picture of a van that may be connected to the suspect.
