A Lemoore woman was arrested Thursday night after police say she assaulted a man with a handgun and then pointed it at him during a domestic dispute, the Lemoore Police Department said.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to 150 S. 19th Ave. for a report of subjects arguing near the entrance of the apartment complex.
While en route, the officers were advised that a female may have been pointing a handgun at a male.
When officers arrived there was nobody in the area. They were directed to an apartment near the entrance, where they could hear people yelling.
Officers contacted a woman, Farah Gonzalez, 37, of Lemoore, as well as a man and a second woman at the apartment.
Farah told officers that the male and the other female had been in an argument, but after speaking with the three people and other witnesses, officers determined it was Gonzalez who had been in the argument with the man, police said.
The man told officers that during the argument, Gonzalez took out a handgun and hit him in the head several times with it, police said. She also grabbed his head and hit it on the floor in the apartment.
The victim went outside, and Gonzalez followed him where she pointed the gun at him, police said.
A witness told officers they heard two clicks, as if Gonzalez was pulling the trigger, but the gun did not fire. The victim eventually tried to leave in a car, but Gonzalez stood in front of the car and pointed the gun at him again, police said.
The victim parked the car and went back inside the apartment.
He suffered minor injuries.
Gonzalez was arrested and booked at the Kings County Jail on charges of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and domestic violence.
Her bail was set at $600,000.
