Woman critically injured after DUI driver slams into her bedroom, Visalia Police say

A woman was trapped against the wall of her room when a suspected DUI driver slammed into her Visalia home Sunday.

It happened just before 3 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Cecil Avenue, according to the Visalia Police Department.

Officers responded and found the driver of a Chevy SUV collided into a home, with the vehicle 10 feet into the front bedroom.

A woman in that room and was trapped against a wall, and Visalia Fire Department firefighters extracted her and the driver, while also battling a fire that was caused by the collision.

The woman suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police say.

Suspected DUI driver, Joshua Hammond, 54, was medically cleared and booked into jail on suspicion of DUI with injuries.
