Woman, 56, accused of fatal hit-and-run of a Fresno skateboarder

Crime

FRESNO, California – A man on his skateboard was killed Sunday just after midnight when a woman allegedly hit him while crossing the street.

Susan Chenot, 56, allegedly fled the scene at Ashlan and Cedar avenues after hitting the man.

“Witnesses provided us with a local plate and we followed up on it. We located the vehicle and the driver,” says a Fresno Police spokesperson.

She was not under the influence, police say, and it’s unknown who was at fault.

The victim has not been identified.

Chenot was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, vehicular manslaughter without negligence and possession of a controlled substance.

Her bail is set at $8,500.
