Visalia men arrested for alleged marijuana grow, stealing $80K of electricity

VISALIA, California – Two men are in custody after an anonymous tip led officers to an alleged indoor marijuana grow where at least $80,000 of electricity was being illegally used.

At around 9:20 a.m. Friday the Visalia Police Department Narcotics Unit and Southern California Edison responded to the 4800 block of West College Avenue regarding the anonymous tip.

A search warrant was served and an indoor marijuana grow of 162 plants and processed marijuana was found inside the home with a total weight of 140 pounds, police say.

Southern California Edison estimated the cost of the alleged theft of electricity at $80,000.

Code enforcement declared the home unsafe to occupy.

Michell Sanchez, 25, and Santiago Landeros, 25, both from Exeter were arrested at the scene booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility.

They are facing marijuana cultivation, utility theft and conspiracy charges.
