Visalia man arrested after assaulting, kidnapping estranged girlfriend and taking their child

A Visalia man has been arrested after deputies say he kidnapped his estranged girlfriend and took their child. 

Around 12:40 a.m. on February 1st, Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Paradise Ave in Ivanhoe for reports of possible domestic violence and kidnapping. 

When deputies arrived on scene they say no one was inside the home, but officials did find evidence of a struggle. 

During their investigation, deputies found surveillance video which showed the victim being forcefully placed in a vehicle and being driven away by her estranged boyfriend, 23-year-old Daniel Flores of Visalia.

Tulare County deputies and officers with the Visalia Police Department located the suspect on 600 block of South Church Street in Visalia, he was immediately arrested.

Law enforcement says he had his and the victim’s young child with him; the child was not injured. 

Detectives say they went to the scene in Ivanhoe and learned Flores had gone to the victim’s family’s home assaulted his estranged girlfriend and picked up their child.

After an extensive search detectives located the victim. She told deputies that Flores came into the home, physically assaulted her and then kidnapped her. Officials say she ran away from the suspect when he stopped the vehicle in Ivanhoe.

The victim had minor injuries from the assault.

Flores is facing charges of burglary, kidnapping and domestic violence.
