UPS worker shot in the head while walking home

MERCED, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A UPS worker is recovering after he was shot in the head while walking home after his shift Monday evening, according to Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

The unidentified victim told deputies that he was walking southbound on Highway 59, south of Childs Avenue, at around 10 p.m. when he heard a gunshot and felt something strike his head. He noticed bleeding and ran back to work to get help.

Merced County Sheriff’s Office says he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Deputies added that the victim has no gang ties and there is currently no suspect description.
