Suspect shot by Kings County deputy during traffic stop


KINGS COUNTY, California – At least one suspect was injured in a deputy-involved shooting southeast of Hanford on Tuesday morning, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office said at least one suspect was hit, but there were two suspects in the vehicle. They couldn’t immediately confirm the status of the second suspect.

The shooting occurred during a traffic stop in the area of Highway 43 and Idaho Avenue.

The deputy involved in the shooting wasn’t injured.

Highway 43 between Idaho and Jackson avenues remains closed.

Commuters should take an alternate route.
