Suspect named in shooting victim’s death after a nearly year-long investigation

An arrest has been made in a nearly year-long investigation after a shooting victim was found dead in a car in Tulare County last March.

It happened in the 700 block of South Oak Street in Earlimart. Detectives say 28-year-old Rogelio Gerardo Lopez was found dead inside a car with a single gunshot wound to his torso.

On Wednesday, 30-year-old Jose Luis Garcia Hernandez of Pixley has been named the suspect in Lopez’s death, the sheriff’s office announced.

He was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Adult Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of murder.
