FRESNO, California (KSEE-KGPE) – Six Fresno gang members and gang associates were arrested in connection to a theft ring, the Fresno Police Department said Monday.
On Sept. 7, officers responded to Kohl’s Department Store located at 3699 W. Shaw Ave. for a “grab and run” by a male and female, police said.
It was determined through the initial investigation by patrol officers that a grand theft had occurred. Detective Cary Phelps was assigned the case for follow-up.
During the course of the investigation, Phelps was able to obtain a license plate that was captured by Kohl’s employees during the crime.
Phelps and other detectives began to conduct surveillance on the suspect vehicle. It was determined during the surveillance the suspect vehicle was involved in a “grab and run” from the AutoZone Store located at 2612 N. Blackstone Ave.
Investigators were able to conduct additional surveillance and locate the vehicle at 3523 E. Santa Ana, Fresno Ca in the Northeast Policing District after the AutoZone “grab and run” occurred.
Based on the surveillance, investigators watched the suspect vehicle leave the location at 3523 E. Santa Ana Ave., and requested officers to conduct an enforcement contact at the CVS Pharmacy located on the southwest corner of Shaw Avenue and Fresno Street.
During the contact, detectives were able to arrest Moises Beltran, a 27-year-old gang member, on several felony charges, police said.
On Sept. 24, detectives served a search warrant at 3523 E. Santa Ana Ave.
During the course of the search warrant, several subjects were contacted at the residence and arrested on a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges:
- Gabriel Garza, 21
- Joe Hernandez, 35
- Frank Martinez, 33
- Crystal Clough, 36
- Yolanda Arias, 35
