COALINGA, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Officers are investigating the stabbing of Southern California man Saturday night in Coalinga, Coalinga Police said.

Officers received reports of a stabbing on the 100 block of E. Ivy Avenue, just north of Polk Street, around 8:15 p.m., Chief Darren Blevins said. Frank Porraz, 48, of Norwalk, was found sitting in a chair with an approximately 1-inch stab wound to his left abdomen.

Porraz told police that he had just arrived and was attacked by an unknown Hispanic man in an alley.

Blevins said officers were able to find surveillance footage from the area and found it contradicted Porraz’s statement and showed a different story.

Several people at the address where the stabbing occurred said they did not witness what had happened.

Porraz was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Blevins said they are still investigating the case and are following up on a few leads.

Coalinga Police are asking anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to contact them.
