Police: 19-year-old turned in by family for stabbing, killing victim and stabbing others

A 20-year-old man was stabbed and killed early Sunday morning, and Fresno Police say the suspect’s family turned him in.

At around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the Parks Apartments on 4025 N. Fruit Ave. regarding multiple stabbing victims.

Four were found, and one of the victims, John Sandoval, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three other victims, two females and one male, ages 19 and 20, were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Detectives say the stabbing occurred in the parking lot after a fight started in one of the apartments. Nineteen-year-old Danny Duran was identified as the suspect responsible for stabbing all the victims and attempting to stab a fifth.

He was turned in by his family and is currently being booked on suspicion of homicide, attempted homicide and multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say the altercation is isolated and all individuals are acquaintances.
