A 32-year-old woman is suspected of being murdered in Fresno over the weekend, police say.

It happened Saturday just before noon, according to a Fresno Police Department news release.

Officers were dispatched to Community Regional Medical Center regarding a victim who was brought into the hospital by an unidentified person and was in serious condition.

The female victim, identified as Yanina Elizabeth Olivarez of Fresno, was rushed into surgery and was listed in critical condition. She died less than fifteen hours later as a result of her injuries.

Olivarez was a mother of a seven year-old child and is a former resident of Tulare.

The type of injuries Olivarez had will not be released, police say, and the identity of the person who brought her to the hospital will not be released.

Detectives later discovered a crime scene at an apartment complex located at 4549 E. Shields Ave.

If anyone has information on the murder of Yanina Elizabeth Olivarez, they are encouraged to contact Homicide Detectives Raul Diaz at 559-621-2449 or Mark Yee at 559-621-2407.

This is the city’s first murder of 2019, the news release says.
