Masked, armed man robs liquor store clerk in northwest Fresno

Crime

A liquor store clerk in northwest Fresno was a victim of an armed robbery Sunday night.

Fresno police responded to the scene around 9:40 p.m. near Ashlan and Marks avenues at Dan’s Liquor.

Lt. Larry Bowlan says a man wearing dark clothing and a mask walked into the store with a black handgun.

He says the suspect hopped over the counter and demanded money from the only working employee at the front of the store.

The clerk emptied the cash register into a plastic bag, as well the money in his wallet, according to Bowlan.

The amount of money taken is undisclosed.

Another employee was in the back of the store, and when the clerk informed the suspect of that, Bowlan says he fled on foot.

There were no customers in the store at the time.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired.
