A Porterville man is accused of attempting to kidnap a 14-year-old girl Saturday afternoon, according to the Porterville Police Department.
At around 4 p.m., police say the girl was walking near Westwood Street and Luisa Avenue when a 32-year-old man, Brandon Phillips, tried to lure her into the bushes, with his right hand inside his pants.
The girl fled the suspect and she reported the incident to police. Soon after, officers found Phillips, who matched the description provided by the victim.
He was positively identified by the victim as the suspect involved, and was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
The DA’s Office said Wednesday that charges hadn’t been filed against Phillips, and that they were awaiting further investigation.
