Man who raped Fresno woman gets 36 years in prison

The man who beat and raped a woman in Fresno last year was sentenced to 36 years in prison Friday, Fresno County court officials said.

In September, several sexual assault charges were filed against Micah Collins after police said he assaulted and raped a 52-year-old homeless woman.

A surveillance camera in the back of AM Beauty Supply near Shields and Palm avenues captured the entire attack.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said that Collins and the victim were acquaintances on the street. He said Collins was homeless too, and the two had recently met.

He was ordered into the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
