A man was found lying on the ground after he was shot by a drive-by shooter Saturday, according to the Fresno Police Department.

It happened around 12:22 p.m. near Merced Street and Pottle Avenue, Lt. Joe Gomez says, adding that ShotSpotter technology detected five rounds.

A 29-year-old man was located with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition, Gomez says.

Witnesses tell police a car occupied by two people turned southbound onto Pottle Avenue from Merced Street, slowed down as it passed the victim, and the front passenger pointed a handgun and fired several rounds at the victim.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model silver Chevrolet Camaro with tinted windows and chrome rims.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
