Man steals Amazon delivery van, but stopped at a locked fire exit

Fresno Police are searching for the suspect responsible for attempting to take off in an Amazon delivery van Sunday.

Around noon, an Amazon driver was making a delivery at the Parc Grove Commons Apartments. When she got out to grab a package, police say a man jumped in the driver’s seat and took off.

That’s when the driver got the help of a witness, hopped in a car, and found the van stopped at a locked fire exit.

The suspect ran away when he saw the Amazon delivery driver, police say.

No packages were taken, but the driver’s backpack, wallet, keys and cell phone were stolen.

The suspect is still missing. He’s described as a white male in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180-185 pounds, wearing a dark blue shirt and black shorts.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Fresno PD at 559-621-7000, and reference case number 19-43322.
