Man severely injured in downtown Fresno after being stabbed twice

A man in his 50s is in critical condition after being stabbed twice in downtown Fresno Friday.

Police responded to the area of Van Ness Avenue and Santa Clara Street around 5:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

He was reportedly walking to his car when he was stabbed twice.

The suspect was taken into custody, and police say he appears to be homeless.
