The man who was killed in a central Fresno shooting on Thursday night has been identified.
Devonte Dickerson, 29, of Fresno, died after he was found with gunshot wounds.
Fresno police are searching for the suspect.
It happened near Dakota and Abby Street shortly after 11p.m.
Police received a report from Shot Spotter about multiple shots being fired.
A few minutes later a 911 call came in about a man down with severe wounds.
“Officers arrived and found an adult male down with gunshot wounds, he was treated by EMS, he had critical wounds, he was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased upon arrival.” said Lt. Michael Landon with Fresno Police.
Detectives are investigating how it all played out and checking where each bullet hit as there are many apartments near by.
“We’re dealing with some uncooperative witnesses in the area, so we’re not receiving a lot of information at this point in time,” Lt. Landon said.
Police were initially made aware of the shooting through Shot Spotter.
They said with this new technology they are able to get to a scene much quicker.
They are also able to pin point the area where the shots were fired, rather than waiting for someone to call it in.
“It indicated multiple rounds that our detectives will need to look into, listen to the audio, check with the shot spotter company to determine whether or not someone was on foot or in a vehicle,” Lt. Landon added.
