Man injured in apparent drive-by shooting in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was taken to the hospital after being shot in an apparent drive-by shooting Saturday.

At around 3 p.m., deputies with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired in the 29000 block of Avenue 13 1/2. There they found two abandoned cars.

One of the cars had bullet holes in it, the sheriff’s office says.

Soon after, a shooting victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. His condition is unknown, but authorities say he’s expected to be OK.

California Highway Patrol’s helicopter helped deputies search for the possible suspect, car involved in the shooting, but remain missing.
